Die HIV-Forschung ist stark klinisch orientiert. Sie fußt zu einem guten Teil auf der großen Zahl der über die Jahre systematisch gesammelten Proben (Seren, Plasmen, Biopsien). Daraus ergaben und ergeben sich wichtige horizontale wie auch longitudinale Analysen.
HIV-related research activities represent mainly clinical research. These investigations build on a large number of patient samples (sera, plasma, PBMCs, biopsies), that have been collected over many years in a systematic fashion. This enables important horizontal as well as longitudinal analyses, many of them as part of large European cohort studies.
