Epidermis

Research

Our lab focuses on the biological processes that regulate the interplay between skin barrier function and cutaneous inflammation with three approaches:

(1) to study the pathogenetic consequences of filaggrin deficiency,

(2) to clarify the relationship between immune-tolerance and immune responses in the skin,

(3) to unravel the role of Nuclear Hormone Receptors (PPAR, PXR) in inflammation and epidermal homeostasis.

Projects

 • Role of Nuclear Hormone Receptors (PPAR, LXR, PXR) in inflammation and epidermal differentiation.

 • Epidermal structure and function in disorders of cornification and atopic dermatitis.

 • Immune-tolerance versus immunity in skin diseases with abnormal barrier function.
